Well, there quite a few bases you could go off of: geography, colors, mascot, friends and family who might have attended there, and religion. I always think you should root for the team that represents your home state, town, etc. Now, your name suggest you're from the Tri-State so this might be difficult. Rutgers is "up and coming" but try convincing people in Westchester Co. to care about the State University of New Jersey. If you're a girl, colors, mascots, and cute quarterbacks are a totally legitimate way to pick your favourite team. If you're a guy, you need something more substantial. Perhaps your favourite uncle went to one school? As I said, religion is also a possibility. If you're Irish Catholic, perhaps you identify with Boston College and Notre Dame. If you're Baptist, perhaps your allegiances ought to lie with the Bears of Baylor. Or perhaps you need a school with high academic standards: an Ivy League or Patriot League school, or a Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, or Cal-Berkeley. Either way, we can't tell you who you should root for, we can just give you suggestions about how to arrive at your own conclusion.
Ever thought about West Virginia. Here's a team as of late been doing well in both catagories and seem to be getting better in both catagories. Bill

Stewart hired a coaching staff that is concidered a

better staff than Coach Rod's with a similar offense but an added extra into the offense with more motion and a balance attack uh oh now the big east and the rest of CFL not only have to worry about WVU running game a passing attack along with it. And Basketball, psst hired another Alma Matter home grown coach in Bob Huggins over 600 career wins in his first year and without his style of athletes took the Mountaineers to the sweet 16. Suggestion. Um many pick WVU be in the top10 next year in bball.
How about a team like Illinois? They were good enough to beat Ohio State in the regular season finale last year, but got whooped by USC in the Rose Bowl, so they're a decent team, but not a powerhouse. The basketball team is rebuilding, but they're not far removed from a National Title game appearance a couple of years back.
i would say florida, but they didn't get good until spurrier and donovan, but it is still a good school for football and basketball, so you should definietly go to the university of florida.
If dad (or you) can afford it, U of Florida Gators in Gainesville Florida. Check out their records in both sports. Urban Meyers best fotball coach in the country. SEC toughest conference.
USC or California

just as long as its not Notre Dame or UCLA
Florida Gators!!!

GO GATORS!!!
make up your own mind. dont be an idiot. you should like a team because you are a fan dont go jumping on bandwagons thats just pathetic.
RUTGERS BABY! C'MON!
NOTRE DAME is always a power house...except this last yr and prolly this next r rebuilding yrs.
The Maryland Terps. Fear the turtle!!!!!
UCONN all the way baby!
