I'm not a huge fan ofcollegesports but at leastcollegefootball and basketball are watchable, it can't just be me either because ncaa baseball is rarely ever shown on tv or made nearly as big a deal about. So is that proof that baseball really is less interesting than other sports? But then how come espn shows the little league WS all the time, how can that be more popular than NCAA baseball, Id much rather watch future mlb stars in action than a bunch of kids... what is the deal?

First, there's talent level...Even though more and more major-leaguers are coming out of NCAA programs, the most-hyped players from high schools and most of the top foreign players are going straight into the minor leagues.
Also, baseball players at that level simply don't have the "star power" of their football and basketball counterparts. A super-hyped high-school point guard is going to be a hyped guard andcollegeand get drafted as a guard into NBA...A star incollegebaseball will probably play three or four positions, including pitcher, so it's harder for them to build a marketable identity.
Second, there's scheduling...With fewer games, Football and Basketball can hype certain made-for-TV matchups. Although not as long as the pro season, NCAA baseball still has to fit a lot of games into a relatively short academic term. That means a lot of mid-day, mid-week double headers...put those on TV and people aren't going to be skipping work to watch them.
It's all about "hype." NCAA football and basketball simply has more raw materials to feed the hype machine.

The College World Series is on ESPN every year. As well as College games on Comcast or any other regional sports station. They mostly focus on the ACC, SEC and Big 12 as they are the big baseball conferences, sort of how College Football focuses on the SEC, ACC and Pac/Big-10 and College Basketball on SEC, Big 12 and ACC. Also, the good matchups are really only on the weekend, so they get overshadowed by MLB and College Basketball, as College Baseball starts in February when March madness picks up. It's not that Baseball is less interesting, it's just that to fit in the Spring Semester, scheduling is awkward and conflicts with everything else.
I would have to agree that it's not nearly as popular as the other sports. But some of that probably just comes back to the fact that it's not aired on TV as much as the other ones.
I really don't thinkcollegebaseball is interesting though. I love MLB, but I can't stand college, I just don't find it very exciting.
It's weird because I don't follow the NFL much, but I likecollegefootball. Same with basketball, I lovecollegebut don't care much for the NBA.
It's like backwards lol. But no you're not the only one that thinks that.
The majority of the best players are drafted straight out of High-School and go into the minor leagues.
The NCAA gets the best of the rest, if not simply the rest.
Some guys develop into good talent, but for the most part yourcollegebaseball player is your next church league softball king who doesn't realize that nobody is there to watch his greatness.
B/C the baseball players are so far away from the MLB talent when in other sports you can go in and be a regular jumping from say NCAA football to NFL so you are almost as good and the sports are so close to being the same its confusing but i hope u understand.
It is not as popular because it is not the next level before the pros. All the players incollegewill go to the minors for at least one year while in basketball and football the players go straight to the pros.
in a word, aluminum
baseball is played everyday, so chances are, if you want to watch a baseball game, there is an MLB game that day, most people want to watch the highest level of play that is available, so most people watch MLB and thereforecollegebaseball doesn't get much publicity.
Basketball is played less often, there are 2 or 3 off days each week, verses maybe 1 every 2 weeks in baseball. So it is much more common to have a day where the highest level of play available to be seen is college
when it comes to football, College is the only show in town on a Saturday. since the NFL plays only one game per week, you have to go further down the ranks to see the same number of games. Friday's are high school football, Saturday's are College, and Sundays are NFL (of course there's Monday night football too).
The reason forcollegebaseball's unattractiveness, is thatcollegebaseball is not marketed like football and basketball. Because it takes multiple years for a baseball prospect to develop into a legit MLB player, most of the top prospects sign out of high school. Also, baseball has the most out of country players than the other two sports, so the top talent isn't always in Division I baseball like it is in football and basketball. Which leads to less marketable players such as a Reggie Bush or a Michael Beasley, so College baseball doesn't get the big media attention, because its ability to generate revenue is not as broad as the other sport. This doesn't me that the athletes in D-1 baseball are any less of an athlete than those in football or basketball. The 21st century sports media has turned sports into a gossip magazine. I find it refreshing when I watchcollegebaseball on the local channels, I don't get the personal lives talk or the he's dating her talk, I just get baseball talk. So a lack of coverage does not prove that baseball is less interesting, it proves that the average sports fan cares just as much about the personal lives,(or what car they drive, or who they are dating, or what kind of house the live in, or any other of the MTV B.S. that ESPN tries to feed us now), of high profile athletes as they do about their performances on the field.
The little league world series has always been popular because, really, its interesting as hell to watch. Seeing a bunch of kids who still love the game with passion playing, fighting, crying as a group. Thats why the LLWS is so popular.
As for NCAA baseball, I find it completely watchable. I find myself more amped for the CWS than even the world series because those games mean something to so many of those kids. Naturally, as you move down in talent levels from pros to college, the games won't be as crisp or faced paced, but you do get an opportunity, as you said, to see future MLB stars.
If you think that baseball is less interesting because of this, so be it, but I'll attribute it to the fact that baseball is so much harder than football and basketball. The thing that draws most people to baseball is the offense (pitching is usually a side note unless someones throwing a no-no). In thecollegeranks a lot of the kids are still developing their skill and getting accustomed to a higher playing level. Pitching is usually the dominant force, which makes the game not appear as pro-like. Not the case in football and basketball because the shots are the same, the players are comparable, the game is just slower and less hard hitting.
